[PROPOSAL-003] Guru Ecosystem Incentivization & Airdrop Mechanism

Summary

This proposal introduces a mechanism to incentivize and reward meaningful engagement within the Guru Network ecosystem through weekly airdrops, distributed via the Ecosystem Chest. By rewarding activities such as governance participation, application usage, and ecosystem contributions, the system promotes sustainable community involvement and long-term network growth.

Background

The Guru Network seeks to cultivate a thriving community around its decentralized applications and governance framework. However, sustaining user engagement and ensuring contributions are meaningful pose ongoing challenges.

This proposal addresses these challenges by introducing the Ecosystem Chest, an on-chain treasury designed to distribute rewards to users based on their contributions. The system also integrates a gated access to the mainnet, ensuring that only active and invested community members receive rewards and benefits.

Inspired by successful practices in decentralized ecosystems, the model combines token-gated access, progressive rewards, and activity-based incentives to create a balanced and sustainable growth strategy.

Overview of the Incentivization & Airdrop Mechanism

Ecosystem Chest

The Ecosystem Chest is an on-chain treasury that serves as the source of rewards distributed to users based on their contributions and activities within the Guru ecosystem.

Reward Pool Allocation

Weekly Cycles (Epochs): The system operates on a weekly basis, with each cycle referred to as an epoch.

Token Source: Core Contributors vote on the amount of tokens to be distributed for community rewards each epoch. These tokens are deposited into the Ecosystem Chest from the Airdrop Community Pool, which constitutes 20% of the total $GURU supply. Allocations are adjusted to match demand and ensure sustainable growth of the ecosystem.

Start Date: The first epoch begins on November 27, 2024.

Weekly Reward Distribution

At the start of each epoch, allocated tokens are transferred to the Ecosystem Chest. These tokens are distributed as rewards to apps users for the following activities on mainnet:

  • Completing Guru Network ecosystem-wide quests.
  • Completing app-specific quests (e.g., in Burning Meme, Miles Deutscher, CrossFi, etc.).
  • Interacting with Guru-powered applications (e.g., trading automations, AI processors, swaps matching, NFT minting, Memecoin launching, etc).
  • Conducting marketing activities to promote ecosystem growth.
  • Other activities aligned with network sustainability and growth.

Amount of rewards for ecosystem-wide activities is determined by Core Contributors. Amount of rewards for AI chatbots and app specific activities is determined by the teams running those apps.

Any unused rewards for a given epoch are carried over to the next, remaining in the Ecosystem Chest for future distribution.

Initial Mainnet Reward Distribution

Upon the launch of the Guru Network mainnet, users will receive initial rewards to kickstart their participation in the ecosystem when they log in to the mainnet for the first time. These rewards are distributed to incentivize early adoption and recognize contributions made during the testnet phase. The allocation of these rewards will be determined based on the following criteria:

  • Ownership of Guru Network NFTs
  • Testnet Activity (users who actively participated in testnet activities, such as completing quests, testing applications, and interacting with Guru AI chatbots, etc)
  • Testnet Points Accumulation

The exact weight of those criteria is determined by Core Contributors.

Reward Usage

Rewards flow into app-specific operational wallets and can be used within the apps. Transfers out of these wallets are subject to a cooldown period to prevent misuse and ensure ecosystem integrity. The exact mechanism will be defined on app level and introduced additionally.

Eligibility for Rewards

Only Guru Network community members are eligible for rewards. Membership is defined as holding any of the following NFTs:

  • Guru Season Passes
  • Themed Guru NFTs (e.g., Spooky Guru)
  • Guru Network DAO NFTs

The list of eligible NFTs may be expanded to include new collections or applications as the ecosystem evolves.

Testnet and Mainnet Access

With the Guru Network mainnet launch, the system introduces two types of access to its applications:

Mainnet Access

  • Operates on the Guru Network mainnet, offering a complete user experience and advanced features.
  • Rewards are distributed exclusively on the mainnet.
  • Access is restricted to Guru Network community members holding eligible NFTs, such as Guru Season Passes or Guru DAO NFTs.
  • Applications within the ecosystem can implement mechanics tailored to their specific use cases.

Guru PointsNet Access

  • Operates as the Guru Network testnet and is open to all users.
  • Provides an opportunity to explore and experiment with Guru AI chatbots and applications.
  • Users earn points (name may vary per app) for their activities, which can be redeemed to become a Pro Community Member and gain mainnet access.
  • Testnet applications may have limited features compared to mainnet counterparts.

This dual-access system encourages user engagement during the testnet phase while incentivizing migration to the mainnet through rewards and exclusive access.

I hope we took a screenshot or anyman can now buy Guru NFC pass x500 item and completely take possession of the voting results.???

It’s important, team.

Then more…
Let me remind you that it would be nice to be able to collect all your NFC from different wallets into one wallet.

About the reward. As I understand it, it will only be available to NFT owners. What about tguru, wguru?
I agree about the snapshot, now anyone can mint 1000 DAO NFTs.

The airdrop should be distributed among loyal members who have held project NFTs for more than three years and took part in voting all 11 previous proposals and also new ones. It means they actively contribute and follow the project continuously.

From what I learnt, this proposal is divided into two categories;
*the future reward distribution mechanism.
*the initial mainnet reward distribution.
The criteria for the initial mainnet distribution is okay but we would like to know how many percent out of the 20% allocated for the community would be for this initial distribution? Season 1-2 is what percentage?

I hold the season 1 NFT and have participated in over 10 votes on the snapshot. I wonder if voting on the web https://gov.gurunetwork.ai/ has the same meaning on snapshots. I don’t see an account on gov.gurunetwork linked to my metamak wallet

Hi HaoHao! The https://gov.gurunetwork.ai/ is used only as a discussion platform for proposals so it’s not linked to your metamask, and it’s open to anyone. The actual voting happens on Snapshot where you need to connect your Metamask.

Hey everyone, thanks for sharing your concerns and comments—they’re really important to address. I’ll take some time to regroup and come back with more details

Hey everyone! During today’s AMA, we shared more details about how we propose the initial reward distribution should be structured and calculated. The details provided above outline mechanics that align with the current proposal and answers to your questions:

Initial Reward Distribution (Sign Up Reward)

  • On November, 27, 2024, mainnet will be launched across applications within the Guru Network ecosystem.
  • Users who possess any Season Pass, Themed collection (Spooky Guru) or Guru DAO NFT will be able to switch to mainnet in apps.
  • Upon sign up, eligible users will be able to receive Mainnet Sign Up Reward (Initial Reward). The amount of reward is depended on the following factors:
    • Type of NFT possessed
    • Governance activity
    • Accumulated Balance in apps on testnet (e.g. Burns in Burning Meme, tGuru in Guru Network app, etc)
    • App specific rewards

Sign Up Reward is calculated by the following formula:

Sign Up Reward = Base Sign Up Reward * Pass Multiplicator + Governance Participation Reward + Accumulated Testnet points across apps * Conversion Rate + App Specific Rewards

Where,

  • Base Sign Up Reward - fixed amount of 250 $GURU

  • Pass Multiplicator - Each type of Guru NFT provides a multiplicator that increases the amount of the reward. Season Passes 1 and 2 have multiplicator 2, Themed collections and Guru DAO NFT have multiplicator 1. If users have more than one type of NFT in their wallet, multiplicators are combined. The number of each type of NFT does not increase the multiplicator. Example: user has 1 Season Pass #1, 2 Season Pass #2 and 1 Guru DAO NFT. Total multiplicator is: 2 for Season Pass #1 + 2 for Season Pass #2 and + 1 for Guru DAO NFT, total is 5.

  • Governance Participation Reward - Users that are participated in Guru Network Snapshot voting, get additional reward 200 $GURU

  • Accumulated Testnet points across apps * Conversion Rate - Points that were accumulated during testnet (tGURU, Burns, etc) are combined and converted into $GURU based on TVL ratio between mainnet and testnet conversion rate. We are still working on calculating the exact economics behind it.

  • App Specific Rewards - applications within the ecosystem may provide additional rewards based on the app-specific criteria.

  • Sign Up bonus calculation formula may be adjusted by Core Contributors.
  • Sign Up Reward will be transferred to the user’s operational wallet. Tokens in this wallet will be available across all applications within the Guru Ecosystem.
  • Users can redeem a Sign Up Reward by one wallet per Telegram account.
  • The rewards will be allocated from the Ecosystem Chest, which is filled up from the Season 1-5 pool (Airdrop Community pool).
    • According to tokenomics, tokens have linear vesting over 1.5 years. Each period a part of the pool will be unlocked and transferred to the Ecosystem Chest to be used for community incentivization.

Ongoing Rewards

Users can earn more rewards by using the apps on mainnet and completing the quests and activities that lead to ecosystem growth. Thus we are aiming to support the ecosystem development and incentivize users to continue use the apps.

Voting mechanism

We agree that the voting strategy requires further review to minimize the risks of Sybil attacks. We are currently considering and testing various options and will share the ideas later. In the meantime, if you have any suggestions on how the voting process could be improved, please feel free to share your thoughts. We can incorporate them into a proposal and present it for community voting

Please feel free to ask any questions, share your concerns and ideas. Thanks for your feedback and thoughts.

UPD: Fixed a typo re: period to make it consistent with the proposal above.

You guys are making this thing complicated… I have read it multiple times but find it difficult to comprehend…
For tguru rewards… those that engaged and claimed faucet on v2.dex.guru from may 2024 till date didn’t accumulate much tguru because it was 10tguru everyday.
Again, for early adopters rewards how many percentage of 20% is allocated and how many wallets qualified…
Please don’t mix early adopters rewards to future rewards mechanisms…
